What is a Quasi Crunchy Life?

Updated: Jan 25, 2019

Balancing healthy and natural choices with scientific evidence and fact. How you can be "crunchy" and science-literate at the same time.

Welcome to My Quasi Crunchy Life! I'm so glad you're here because I'm DYING to share my passions with you.

Do you strive to be more healthy, natural, or Earth-conscious? Is living a "crunchy" life all or nothing?

Being "crunchy" often describes someone stereotypically viewed a strong left-leaning, environmentalist, neo-hippie, homeschooling, organic, tree hugging vegan who lives off the grid and doesn't go along with mainstream ideas and philosophies. Well, who doesn't love a good tree, right? Granola sure is crunchy... but this is DEFINITELY NOT an all or nothing lifestyle! Sometimes the mainstream works. Sometimes it's scientifically proven.

Sometimes the "crunchy" parts of our lives

are ALSO scientifically proven!

What my Quasi Crunchy Life Means

For me, I started making the change to more natural, earth based, sustainable living choices when I started my family. There's something about looking at the world through your babies' eyes that force you to take a long, hard look at how your actions affect more that just yourself. I can also credit many great friends that came before me on this journey, opening my eyes through workshops and classes, and showing me the way.

Now I'm not a hippie by trade, and I certainly wasn't raised in a crunchy home. My background is in the sciences, and my career as a Speech Language Pathologist is dependent on evidence based practices. I treat people in healthcare. I can't throw herbs and sunshine on them to cure what ails. As a therapist though, it's in my nature to help people. Nothing gives me greater joy than to hear that something I helped you change something, introduced you to a product, or educated you about an issue that made a positive change in your life. #allthefeels

Adding these crunchy aspects to my life has been a process. It's not a change I made overnight. It was one class. It was one documentary. It was one research article.

One day at a time.

So today you might be holding onto your plastic zip top bags for dear life, flushing toxins through your body, stocking the freezer with processed foods, and filling landfills with tons of trash. You may be dependent on harsh pharmaceuticals, never read an ingredient label, and choose convenience over conscientiousness.

You might know the harmful effects of these choices. You might not. But that's what we're here for, to do this TOGETHER. You don't have to do it all; I sure don't, but you can do SOMETHING. I can't wait to see where this journey takes us, and I'm thrilled to help you get there.
